This is the allotment when I first got it. I've cleared quite a lot of it now, but I've been a bit poorly so there's been a bit of a hiatus. And it's not really the best time of year for planting stuff, is it?
We've had torrential rain here in the West Country and the field next door was flooded for quite a while.
The river runs through it......
After the rain, the hot sun baked the top crust of the soil nicely hard. Meanwhile, I have been given a shed........
This has now been erected by a kind friend, and I shall post photos when available.

Starting to Grow......
I have an allotment - hooray for the good life!
A year ago I moved to a new flat - social housing for Old Gits. I wasn't unhappy to be moving out of a damp studio flat with nosy landlord and landlady, but I have been missing the outside garden space there.
Now I have some outside space all of my own - well, all of the Parish Council's. And I have been given a small shed which a kind friend has erected for me today while I was out at work. It just gets better.
I must admit that the weather hasn't been ideal for allotmenteering. Now that the rain has stopped the heat has baked the top layer of the soil to a solid crust.......and as for the slugs......
I'll post some photos when I get the film developed - yes, I am still using film!
